Carlton Draught snags on sale for finals footy

Beer and barbecue fans rejoice. Carlton Draught and The Butcher Club are bringing back Victoria’s favourite footy finals food: the beer sausage.

This special snag is made using Victoria’s iconic pub beer, Carlton Draught and can be purchased from at Butcher Club stores during AFL footy finals in September.

The sausages are masterfully crafted, using just a splash of Carlton Draught, by father-andson butchers Peter and Corey Robinson and their team at The Butcher Club.

It’s a delicate balance to get the flavours just right, with a blend of spices and meal used to ‘hold’ the Carlton Draught flavour in the sausages, so it doesn’t spill onto the barbie.

“Our Carlton Draught sausage was an instant hit when we first brought it out. We thought it would be a one off, but we get asked about them almost every day, so our beer sausages are back for a third year, and they’re better than ever. They are made to enjoy alongside a cold Carlton Draught.” said Corey Robinson.

“It doesn’t matter what team you barrack for – if you are chucking these sausages on the barbecue, you’re a winner. Unless you forget the sauce.”

Carlton & United Breweries Head of Beer, Ben Eyles, said the sausages were a taste sensation for lovers of draught beer.

“During September there are three things that matter – football, barbecues and beer. Carlton Draught has been the official AFL footy beer for decades, so this really is the perfect football snack,” Mr Eyles said.

“Barbies across the state fire up, the onions are fried, the snags go on, and cold, fresh beers are cracked. The only thing left to do is kick back and wait for the first bounce.”

The Carlton Draught sausages, which are a mixture of beef and pork, are available in kilo ($19.99) and half-kilo packs ($9.99) at Butcher Club stores until after the Grand Final.
