1890s

Labels-from-the-1890's

1894 – Thomas Aitken, the founder of Victoria Brewery develops a Bitter Ale. The Victoria Brewery is bought by London investors who change the name to the Melbourne Brewery.

1895 – Coghlan & Tulloch’s Ballarat Brewing Co formed as the amalgamation of the Phoenix and Royal Standard Breweries.

1898 – Below – A beer delivery down the Yarra River from Spencer St to a depot in Hobsons Bay, Williamstown (The Strand is in the background).
